Utilita are one of the largest energy providers in Britain supplying gas and electricity predominantly to the pre-payment market. Utilita was established in 2003 with an aim to give customers a fairer deal, now supplying both customers and businesses.

Utilita currently employs around 1,500 people across their ten sites nationwide. Year on year, Utilita continues to grow, resulting in departments expanding and creating many internal progression opportunities

What You’ll Be Doing

To assist the Business Energy Sales Team in generating leads and acquiring new business. Maintain and build working relationships with Third-Party agents and direct customers to ensure continued sales and retention of Business clients.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To introduce Utilita’s offering via phone and email to potential clients
  • Strong ability to sell Utilita’s products
  • Research potential organisations and businesses to generate new leads
  • To achieve leads & sales in line with business targets by pitching what Utilita Business has to offer
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with external Business Development Managers
  • Contacting potential clients to arrange appointments with the Business Development Managers as required
  • To manage, develop, and maintain relationships between Utilita and external clients
  • Communicate frequently with Third-Party clients to maintain a strong relationship and inform of new developments and changes that may benefit them
  • Follow up potential sales leads, providing quotations and winning new contracts whist adhering to business processes and procedures
  • Have a full understanding of energy quoting, industry processes and metering
  • Delivering high levels of customer service thus helping with high customer retention
  • Respond to customer emails within 24 hours of receipt. Managing customer requirements and expectations with all queries being resolved in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure all customer calls are answered within 3 minutes and 95% of calls are handled
  • Establish effective working partnerships with other departments and colleagues to maximise operational performance, challenging the status-quo when necessary
  • Ensuring both internal and industry requirements are adhered to, including effective Complaint Handling Standards and other company policies and procedures
  • Managing system work lists (to do lists) to ensure portfolio maintains a ‘healthy’ condition
  • Ensuring that industry data is transferred, and action taken between customer, broker third parties and intermediaries in a timely manner
  • Use of multiple systems/online platforms to ensure all customer information is loaded in a timely way and always current
  • Provide support in managing SMETs metering installation bookings and faults
  • Managing a variety of different contracts with a clear understanding of the differences and how to process each account effectively
  • Servicing customers in line with specific Service Level Agreements (where appropriate)
  • Have a full understanding of the business energy industry processes and SMETs metering service

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum of 6 months’ previous experience working in a Sales or Account Management role
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to take ownership and challenge where appropriate with a ‘one touch’ pro-active approach working to exceed customer expectations
  • Pro-active and well organised, able to manage a busy workload with competing and changing priorities
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking to create imaginative solutions
  • A team player who has the ability to build strong effective relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic and motivated individual who is capable of dealing with a wide range of tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a calm and confident telephone manner
  • PC literate specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of Industry Regulations and processes
  • Experience with in the Energy industry
  • Experience of working in a Sales & Account Management role
