The job in a nutshell

CarShop are part of the Sytner Group and we are enjoying phenomenal success. We are growing our proposition and are set to open a further 3 retail stores over the next 12 months. Thats why we are looking for talented individuals to come and jpin the CarShop family.

Our Retail Manager position is a step between Sales Manager and Head of Business. As a Retail Manager Designate you will have been identified as our future talent and as such will be on a clear development path to become our next Retail Manager subject to your performance and personal development.

This development path requires you to spend significant amounts of time in each of our stores and your permanent placement could also be in any of our stores. This means the successful candidate is required to be flexible in terms of travel and location. We understand that this is a huge commitment however we will assist and invest in you by picking up the costs of both travel and accommodation in the short and long term. This can be discussed fully on application.

Our Designate program provides you with a true insight into what it will be like to work as a Senior Manager within CarShop. During the program you will receive a full induction with a focus on the technical processes and understanding policies and procedures specific to CarShop. We will support you with classroom-based training, on the job learning, progress reviews and support from senior management. Once completed, you will then progress into a senior leadership role where you will be able to use your previous experience and learning to succeed.

Whilst in training in addition to your basic salary, you will be guaranteed a gross commission payment of £1,667 per Month. Following on from this, once live for the initial 3 Months in the role you will be will guaranteed the same amount as a minimum with additional commission paid for all performances above this amount. As a guide, the OTE for the Retail Manager role is £70,000 per annum; however our top performing Retail Manager earned £79,500 in 2016.

In addition to our competitive basic Salary and Commission package, you will also be able to benefit from our pension scheme, laptop, mobile phone and a Company Car with the option to include fuel benefit. There is a fantastic choice available with vehicles ranging from BMW 4 Series to Audi A5’s to choose from.

What you will be doing 

  • Lead a high performing sales team to maximise sale opportunities
  • Support store Management in driving performance and ensuring all KPI’s are met
  • Support direct reports in driving performance of Customer Consultants and ensuring visible leadership
  • Facilitate Saturday sales meetings to motivate and enhance team performance
  • Ensure all Colleagues attend mandatory training courses and identify training needs on a regular basis.
  • Be responsible for motivating, engaging and developing a sales team to exceed their individual targets
  • Conduct regular reviews with direct subordinates on a monthly / 6 monthly basis, providing feedback and guidance in achieving performance
  • Ensure staffing levels are as per budgeted head count, supporting Recruitment assessment days to attract talent into the store
  • Ensure legal and financial compliance across sales activity
  • Ensure all People related Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times

What we think good looks like

  • A full valid UK driving license
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Complete flexibility. This role could be in any one of stores during training and when you take up a permanent position
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry will be a huge advantage but is not essential as long as you have retail experience
  • To demonstrate an interest and passion in what we do
  • Proven track record within a fast paced and targeted automotive sales environment
  • A wealth of management experience in leading a large team of high performers
