Job Details

Retail Merchandising Manager sought by an omni-channel hair & beauty service provider and retailer to join their team in Central Birmingham.

The Role:

As Retail Merchandising Manager you’ll be responsible for setting and achieving retail sales budgets and margins, and implementing delivery plans to maximise potential. You’ll also establish Joint Business Partners with suppliers and manage the department team. Your duties will include:

  • Determine full year sales budget for salon and ecommerce and produce detailed plan to achieve budgets- obtain sign off and monitor progress
  • Monitor margins vs. customer acquisition and retail growth
  • Support business leaders in the development and execution of UK retail strategy
  • Amend plans to ensure delivery throughout the year
  • Identify key sellers and ensure they’re in stock and review market for latest/greatest new items to trial/roll out
  • Continual monitoring of SKU level sell out information to amend holding as appropriate
  • Develop monthly activity planner; link with marketing ensuring consumer messaging achieved
  • Clearance strategy and roll out through branch network while monitoring performance
  • Replenishment maintenance/monitoring – no stock outs/no over stocks/fill rate
  • Development and review of inventory reports to provide insights to business leaders
  • Ecommerce stock levels/product mix
  • Cycle count/stock count review – ensure complete etc.
  • Joint Business Partners: set targets, review buyer plans, and monitor vs budget, continually update/review/refine, and retro budgets/monitoring/confirmation of actual
  • Understand and become business leader in the inventory replenishment systems and train and support the team in usage
  • Ensure optimal usage of information available to improve business efficiency and sales
  • Make recommendations to the business for improvement opportunities through data usage
  • Visual Merchandise: POG/space allocation review/approval, work with suppliers to build on shelf displays etc., and inventory management for changes (clearance/exit strategies)
  • Management: reviews / development plans, and ensuring timely delivery to meet goals
  • Discussion with relevant groups to understand wider business needs
  • Utilise marketing to push sales
  • Ensuring inventory in place to meet branch and promotional needs
  • Branch visits when required

The successful Retail Marketing Manager should have:

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline or qualified by experience
  • Minimum of 4 years in a retail buying role
  • Experience of managing or supervising people
  • Able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work under pressure, autonomously without supervision achieving consistent results
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Creative and analytical thinker, able to solve problems and able to and propose new and different solutions to existing problems
  • Able to travel to Coventry short term if needed as the company moves to Birmingham in September
