Business Development Manager wanted for a recently new purpose built venue and a hotel based in Essex, close to the M25, The venue was established in 2014. It has two halls. The main hall seats up to 800 people and the upstairs hall seats up to 120 people (both banquet style). The venue is accessed via a private gated entrance and is surrounded by 18 acres of lush grounds. Additionally, there are 250 car parking spaces with an overflow is required. Thy are situated within the M25 and is accessible to other major road and public transport links, which include underground stations. Alternatively the venue can also be reached by helicopter. The variety of events held at there have ranged from weddings, sports events, charity galas, public exhibitions, birthday parties, funeral wakes, bar mitzvahs, anniversaries and much more.

You will be accountable for the M.I.C.E. and the development of all new B2B business relationships. Whilst it is important to maintain a holistic view of the business, you must also pay attention to details and set the example for the sales staff to deliver a high standard of service in each of their respective sales target markets.
To drive revenue from Corporate meeting planners and MICE agents.
Ensure that business targets are achieved in-line with agreed targets.
Ensure implementation of strategic sales actions plan for the MICE segment.
Lead key customer relationships and negotiate preferred partnerships and Meetings and Events RFP’s.
To grow customer relationships and their knowledge of the Venue and to increase the level of market share.
Create and work daily with account plans that fully integrate all actions in line with the venue and the account expectations in order to meet revenue and relationship growth targets.
Develop business from key feeder markets and organise farm trips in order to showcase the venue
It is important to always ensure those clients’ needs and expectations are exceeded in this service led environment. Therefore this role requires that business and people management aspects are well understood, as you will be managing a sales team, 2 from the venue and 1 from the hotel.
- You will be partnering directly with companies as well as key MICE agents
- Previous experience of Account Management and Business Development
- Experience in the relevant market segment, B2B Venues and Hotels.
- Established network in relevant market segment.
- Knowledge of computer programs: excel, power point, word, social media.
- PMS experience with Opera Sales & Catering or similar.
- Experience in negotiating and executing preferred agreements.
- Inspirational and dynamic team player.
- Self-motivated and self-starter.
- Results driven.
To be considered for this role you must either have a Venue or Hotel background or both, be a strong sales person with a strong personality and strong people skills, proven man-management with at least 4 to 6 years sales experience with at least 2 of those with man-management experience
