Sales Engineer – heat transfer – power generation. Our client is a leader in the design, manufacture, repair and renovation of thermal transfer equipment, specifically heat exchangers and pressure vessels for the power generation, process, oil and gas sectors. They supply and service clients across the globe from their superbly equipped UK manufacturing and engineering facility. They now require a technically astute but highly capable sales engineer to focus on growing their own specialist division servicing power generation and energy clients throughout the UK. Your remit will be to work this vertical marketplace creating an increase in new business acquisition, developing a broad network of clients and contacts so that the company is always in a position to quote for and win sales from this sector. This is an excellent chance to develop your own division within the company and future career progression will be driven by your achievements and success.

The sales engineer will come with a strong background in Thermal Transfer Engineering, ideally heat exchangers or related industrial products and services (e.g industrial steam boilers, industrial burners, compressors, industrial pumps or valves) The role requires a unique mix of technical knowledge but also an aptitude for face to face sales as 80% of the time will be spent client facing, but the meetings can very quickly become technical, so it is essential you have a good understanding of the technology and engineering involved so that the clients can get ‘maximum value’ from the time they spend meeting with you.

Responsibility will also include preparing weekly sales forecasts, accurate reporting as well as liaising with senior management to shape the divisions strategy going forward.

The ideal Sales Engineer will have the following;

  • Thermal transfer (ideally heat exchanger) experience
  • Formal Mechanical Engineering Qualification
  • Proven success in a technical sales environment
  • Network of clients/contacts dealt with in power generation and energy sectors
  • Strong new business development skills
  • Excellent networking and account development abilities
  • A stable career history

The Sales Engineer will be located somewhere in Central England, ideally within the four corners of Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Leicester, but surrounding areas will also be considered for the right candidate.
